How to Pay Your Federal Taxes

Where do I file my individual federal income tax?
Find filing information for you and your family, review electronic filing options including IRS Free File, and access your tax account at https://www.irs.gov/individuals.

Can I pay my federal taxes by credit card?
Yes, you can pay your federal tax return by credit card.  Learn more at https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card.

What if I cannot pay my federal income taxes by the tax deadline?
If you’re not able to pay the tax you owe by your original filing due date, the balance is subject to interest and a monthly late payment penalty. There’s also a penalty for failure to file a tax return, so you should file timely even if you can’t pay your balance in full.  You may qualify for additional time (180 days) to pay or to setup a monthly payment plan.  Learn more at https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc202.
